Erst kürzlich berichteten wir von Spekulationen um eine GeForce 7800 GS und erst vor wenigen Tagen versteiften sich dann auch noch die Gerüchte um eine AGP-Version jener Karte. Nun erteilte NVIDIA der GeForce 7800 GS für PCIe jedoch eine klare Absage.

Im Forum von nV-News meldete sich Brian Burke, Mitarbeiter der Firma NVIDIA, zu Wort:

Without getting into the nitty gritty details, NVIDIA provides boards to our developers for their in house game development. These boards are meant for the sole purpose of inhouse engineering and QA. In the case of the recent GeForce 7800 GS PCI Express reviews that you may have seen, some of these developer boards were mistakenly given out to end users at an event the developers sponsored. These boards were never meant to ship in the open market.

NVIDIA has NO plans to release a commercially available GeForce 7800 GS PCI Express board.

Die PCI-Express-Version der GeForce 7800 GS war also nicht für den öffentlichen Markt gedacht und wir als solche auch nicht in den Markt gelangen. Verwunderlich bei diesem Dementi ist jedoch die explizite Betonung des PCI-Express-Interfaces, was natürlich (gewollt?) Spekulationen um eine AGP-Version offen lässt.
